Yamaha Drums UK are delighted to announce DRUMFEST at DRUMMERS ONLY, GLASGOW – a 3-day weekend feast of live drumming and drum workshops from Fridays to Sundays, culminating with the Scottish Final of #FUTUREBEAT – Yamaha’s ground-breaking and prestigious national competition to discover and showcase the next generation of drummers aged 18 years and under.

ANDREW SMALL – HYBRID DRUMMING MASTERCLASS

Friday 21st October: In-Store

Andrew Small will be opening Yamaha’s Drumfest event at Drummers Only with a Masterclass on Hybrid Drumming and Triggering.

Small is one of the most respected drummers pioneering what is now commonly known as ‘Hybrid’ Drumming, bringing the worlds of electronic and acoustic drums together on live stages around the world with artists who have included Massive Attack and Moloko. He has also worked as musical director for Kylie Minogue and Il Divo.

‘There is no one better than Andrew to give a step-to-step guide of how electronics can be used to complement your playing when tackling various styles of music, while also highlighting some pitfalls to avoid. With live performance Q&A and demonstrations this will be an opportunity not to be missed,’ Yamaha says.

Sunday 23rd October: In-Store

Yamaha Drums is delighted to invite entries for #FUTUREBEAT ’17 that offers a mouth-watering array of prizes, unique performance opportunities, and maximum exposure for drummers aged 18 years and under.

This Scottish regional final will see 10 talented and aspiring drummers battle it out for one of 5 places at the Finals at Yamaha Headquarters in Milton Keynes. With prizes including a Yamaha Drum Kit awarded to the #FUTUREBEAT ‘17 winner, a Yamaha Snare Drum for Regional Winners and professional development from Artist Mentoring Sessions for the Grand Finalists, this is a do-not-miss-opportunity for anyone under the age of 18 who plays drums.

Make sure you demonstrate your ability and style. The video can be made using acoustic or electronic drums. Judges will be looking for groove, timing, technique, versatility and expression. If you record something specific for the competition it can be filmed as simply as on your smart phone. Judging will be made on your performance not the production of the video.

From the video submissions, 10 young drummers will be selected to perform live on a Yamaha Drum Kit at the Scottish Regional Final that will each showcase 10 drummers. These drummers will play for up to a maximum of 10 minutes duration in front of audiences comprising family, friends and members of the general public.
