This Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple Shell Pack in Red Autumn finish comes with a sonically complimenting Yamaha Recording Custom 14×5.5in Aluminium Snare.

When Yamaha set about designing the Absolute Hybrid Maple, they started with the most important aspect of a musical instrument, the sound. They wanted these new drums to perform at all dynamic levels. From a whisper to a thunder, a drum should respond to the drummer’s touch, allowing them to express their every emotion. They then considered other characteristics of a great drum. It should feel good to play, it should be a thing of beauty to the eye, and has to withstand the rigors of years of performance.

About the Hybrid Maple-Wenge-Maple Shell:

The Absolute Hybrid Series inherits the hybrid shell technology found on the flagship PHX Series. On Absolute Hybrid shells, the design consists of a core ply of wenge a very hard and heavy wood native to Africa, sandwiched between plies of maple, well known for its clear tone. As the wenge resonates, the maple carries it further giving you the maximum sustain out of the shells.

Recording Custom Aluminum 14×5.5in Snare Drum

Developed in collaboration with drumming legend Steve Gadd, the Yamaha 14″ x 5.5″ Recording Custom Aluminum Snare Drum includes a handful of special features that set it apart from just another aluminum drum. When you open the box, the drum inside will be equipped with 20-strand snappy snare wires, which is fairly typical. However, you’ll also find a special 10-strand set of wires in the box made to Steve’s preference – it’s really a 14-strand set with four inner wires cut out for a crisper sound! The center bead along the equator of the shell is fixed on the outside to give the drum more openness and fullness. A heavy-duty Q-type strainer gives you smooth, stable snare action and it just feels solid. Aluminum gives you a tastefully bright tone that doesn’t ring quite as much as other metals, so you don’t have to dampen to get the right sound.
