This past September saw the inaugral U.K. Drum show take place in Manchester at Manchester Central. A stellar line up of players kicked off what can hopefully be an annual event. The line up included Simon Phillips, Dennis Chambers, J.R. Robinson, Emmanuelle Caplette and more.

We were there with 2 awesome companies – Pearl Drums and BR Distribution – showcasing a fantastic array of gear. From Pearl’s coveted Crystal Beat Acrylic kit (with ALL the lights) to Istanbul Agop 30th Anniversary cymbals – the most handmade of handmade cymbals.

The experience was rounded off with an amazing Remo Drummer Night where a kick ass house band were joined by all the mainstage drummers playing a song of thier choice – all to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust. Particular highlights were Simon Phillips playing Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground”, J.R. showing us how “Ain’t Nobody” should be played and Gerald Hayward jazzing out to Al Jarreau’s version of the Chick Corea tune “Spain”.

This coming weekend sees the return of the Yamaha Drum Fest weekend event. On Friday night we’ll host Andrew Small and his Hybrid Masterclass. He’ll be bringing us all sorts of Electro/Acoustic goodness and showing you how to make it applicable to your set up/gig.

Andrew is no beginner to electronic drums having held the drum chair for Massive Attack, Moloko and being the MD for Kylie on several world tours. Excited much??

Sunday night welcomes back #Futurebeat – Yamaha’s under 18s drum competiton. 10 young drummers will compete in the regional final, right here in the store. The winner will then go on to the grand final held in Milton Keynes. With prizes including a Yamaha Drum Kit awarded to the #FUTUREBEAT ‘17 winner, a Yamaha Snare Drum for Regional winners and professional development from Artist Mentoring Sessions for the Grand Finalists, this is a do-not-miss-opportunity for anyone under the age of 18 who plays drums.

Tickets for Andrew are priced at a measley £5 and #Futurebeat is totes free so get yourself down to the shop to see some great playing from the youth and a seasoned pro!

This past week Paul was invited over to the Sonor factory in Bad Berleburg. Along with a host of U.K. drum shops, he got a tremendous insight into how these gorgoeus drums are made and suffice to say he wasn’t disappointed.
